<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD17TvQrLjQo8Jsb6YA_8YO6FjcQNdgPdNhxMGdymLBFjk8LO1d-Ssa6gn91HgfqYApaIBXOz4mrWqmcafgFIAsVD__iCipmLa9zxqzFjG0ql7TT7AS6ADmxBAE-OiOkBitJdehnnTy3o/s1600/witch+hat+centerpiece.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD17TvQrLjQo8Jsb6YA_8YO6FjcQNdgPdNhxMGdymLBFjk8LO1d-Ssa6gn91HgfqYApaIBXOz4mrWqmcafgFIAsVD__iCipmLa9zxqzFjG0ql7TT7AS6ADmxBAE-OiOkBitJdehnnTy3o/s1600/witch+hat+centerpiece.JPG" height="512" width="640" /></a></div>
I think they go nicely with the witch hat I bought last year during the after Halloween sales.<br />
<br />
I put two big hairy spiders on my chandy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1rrtLS6vucFvs4uvOC1lZd22_yYl0fnyw8maepfkUJsN4jMlhT6zOBpR1y-cuOOlvvo_T8TITmFhhKd2zqFvXlbnY4j9g4cUFrXmi8vksgTrU8e5ga7vUtj1zQj5xjGwcBGOwGn646gc/s1600/spiders+on+chandy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1rrtLS6vucFvs4uvOC1lZd22_yYl0fnyw8maepfkUJsN4jMlhT6zOBpR1y-cuOOlvvo_T8TITmFhhKd2zqFvXlbnY4j9g4cUFrXmi8vksgTrU8e5ga7vUtj1zQj5xjGwcBGOwGn646gc/s1600/spiders+on+chandy.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I decorated top of my curio cabinet with more items I bought during the 2013 after Halloween sales.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhM7tqL4Fr1ywJsVIauEEBBcQyMGSj-aYsBnB3XPzXWY3dzJhNXIoeUmYSQgx3hdLkXGGklBSt5UBLEi4cnsAKeb8aOdL-n_Z3YEq-_cqpwuUV7FPK2nyNCcTXoNyu1mxACYJHpWQvNCI/s1600/rip+skeleton+cab+top.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhM7tqL4Fr1ywJsVIauEEBBcQyMGSj-aYsBnB3XPzXWY3dzJhNXIoeUmYSQgx3hdLkXGGklBSt5UBLEi4cnsAKeb8aOdL-n_Z3YEq-_cqpwuUV7FPK2nyNCcTXoNyu1mxACYJHpWQvNCI/s1600/rip+skeleton+cab+top.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I love those full body skeletons! I wish I had purchased the full size skeleton that I let go at 50% off!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8ULVoayEaAgzaABRS7xKEV4vuKphmDQ7vbuddpQb4rR6eE3GNqJ8pt9B9qUDJWdDO4Jlb7sWJdYAbJ4B8a2y0n_dGd3Uek3JwDi8k-920IB9gaZRvnZGGS5owDEt0Yjws1975x77hAjU/s1600/skeletons+on+curio.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8ULVoayEaAgzaABRS7xKEV4vuKphmDQ7vbuddpQb4rR6eE3GNqJ8pt9B9qUDJWdDO4Jlb7sWJdYAbJ4B8a2y0n_dGd3Uek3JwDi8k-920IB9gaZRvnZGGS5owDEt0Yjws1975x77hAjU/s1600/skeletons+on+curio.JPG" height="640" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I have used these skeletons heads before. They are always perfect for Halloween.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNHf6ugPYs9JQN9osSqw7pV3HkElX3DUne3IyzQdJ3_8jJ_M0NDvj1A1e4U0CHKrAQKZGEVvG7ibGKsJYBdYzQTmR2N9j_QxNIMqYbDsmbBjs6sxPgO4_86bz_9zKxPpH0yrn1bG2xzuw/s1600/skeleton+head+halloween+table.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNHf6ugPYs9JQN9osSqw7pV3HkElX3DUne3IyzQdJ3_8jJ_M0NDvj1A1e4U0CHKrAQKZGEVvG7ibGKsJYBdYzQTmR2N9j_QxNIMqYbDsmbBjs6sxPgO4_86bz_9zKxPpH0yrn1bG2xzuw/s1600/skeleton+head+halloween+table.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I added some green limes around the head to bring in the napkin color.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am happy with this table.Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978112672451468064.post-9786764254757731622012-09-24T17:55:00.000-04:002012-09-24T17:55:13.104-04:00Fall/Halloween Tablescape 2012I will show it in black and white first, so those of you with sensitive eyes can get your sunglasses. It looks pretty tame here. :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Got those sunglasses on? OK, here is the same picture in color....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Orange, chartreuse, black, purple & yellow are the main colors. The drinking glasses are actually purple, but it is difficult to tell that in these pictures.<br />
<br />
I went out on the deck and cut the foliage for the centerpiece. I used a similar foliage bouquet a few years ago and really liked it. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXCFamhopx5ydlvi8ccriJWDC_XQ6y2s7jn0sE4BFOLThRCbOQsvoPnkW5iLtlUprg2DL079hyphenhyphenKveZuLdNOkVOA6K8avRWHtkN50PDcl2gFqtk4g6ZUZHClQ3lj7kfCWP9SdDa7iai8bg/s1600/crocosmia+bouquet+halloween+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXCFamhopx5ydlvi8ccriJWDC_XQ6y2s7jn0sE4BFOLThRCbOQsvoPnkW5iLtlUprg2DL079hyphenhyphenKveZuLdNOkVOA6K8avRWHtkN50PDcl2gFqtk4g6ZUZHClQ3lj7kfCWP9SdDa7iai8bg/s640/crocosmia+bouquet+halloween+(Medium).JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Coleus does not like cold temps, so it probably would not have lasted through the week outside. I bet it's quite happy that I brought it inside where it is considerably warmer! That chartreuse variety is a good match to the chair backs, don't you think?<br />
<br />
I also think the Vaseline candlesticks that my mom gave me years ago are a nice match<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5asa1_zMrr3FC2vYgDWwYbt8l_a-64tGTDL9cJSRWxt9nGkNpAtuNG5zepHE5b9pktvQhqF9fYSyuv9KkKySoZk_Lk8-ZFxAevSL6cZVymK032QvHGxOjfn4-h9E9iBiRiMoGgHPCStA/s1600/vaseline+candlestick+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5asa1_zMrr3FC2vYgDWwYbt8l_a-64tGTDL9cJSRWxt9nGkNpAtuNG5zepHE5b9pktvQhqF9fYSyuv9KkKySoZk_Lk8-ZFxAevSL6cZVymK032QvHGxOjfn4-h9E9iBiRiMoGgHPCStA/s640/vaseline+candlestick+(Medium).JPG" width="554" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
I made the quilted table runner and chair backs a couple of years ago.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo7-5ALyE34Isg-q1seG3YOcctoxnxxiCw4NI0IL1cKqFQ4SJwuw-cdhyphenhyphen5KMy2EZbXQNK2c0UNYvqi7cPhebUQXyGifjbILQLYShq7Uc7qzST_-CizvAr79S9v6BGxoTS3DkA2FcDI8Ko/s1600/halloween+tablescape+2012+runner+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo7-5ALyE34Isg-q1seG3YOcctoxnxxiCw4NI0IL1cKqFQ4SJwuw-cdhyphenhyphen5KMy2EZbXQNK2c0UNYvqi7cPhebUQXyGifjbILQLYShq7Uc7qzST_-CizvAr79S9v6BGxoTS3DkA2FcDI8Ko/s640/halloween+tablescape+2012+runner+(Medium).JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really like this bright runner. The only time I can use it is near Halloween.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5asa1_zMrr3FC2vYgDWwYbt8l_a-64tGTDL9cJSRWxt9nGkNpAtuNG5zepHE5b9pktvQhqF9fYSyuv9KkKySoZk_Lk8-ZFxAevSL6cZVymK032QvHGxOjfn4-h9E9iBiRiMoGgHPCStA/s1600/vaseline+candlestick+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Actually I don't think this table is all that Halloweeny...only the skeleton straws and the spider candles suggest Halloween...unless you glance over at the curio cabinet... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIdmEPQByOfnPDnejHVYYzV2MkQEVLOw9xXxyqHyTOwrjMZNqxq48QhhgUqIjnueargms9aF5pzCLDfnz8ccYzf5J73hFRBPDQkaUYyTqMBb39EuE3zhqIl0KRK6yz27t3x9PsdFlVrWk/s1600/halloween+curio+tablescape+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="462" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIdmEPQByOfnPDnejHVYYzV2MkQEVLOw9xXxyqHyTOwrjMZNqxq48QhhgUqIjnueargms9aF5pzCLDfnz8ccYzf5J73hFRBPDQkaUYyTqMBb39EuE3zhqIl0KRK6yz27t3x9PsdFlVrWk/s640/halloween+curio+tablescape+(Medium).JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
The purple glasses are stored there. Since I put them on the table, I could not leave the cabinet bare, so I replaced them with orange pumpkins and a silver skeleton head..had I not done that, I think this table could be used for any fall dinner party.<br />
<br />
Happy fall 'Yall!Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978112672451468064.post-14625346824872663082012-04-08T06:09:00.000-04:002012-04-08T06:09:08.639-04:00I Had Planned to Entertain for EasterI even started to set the table. I put out dishes to match the chair covers and found a green tablecloth that resembled grass:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1Tn3sR45p78ip-NUs7GmyUkW6cKGkKY0BQKdXQXKeiNtnnlOw2juVTUIj8IUCBaNn7L6eReAOqmGYJAqSogZmtbxkA1fByzFNl3xQM0attGl5dsTJNwIcOWQmvNuO2zxmCwZSIi8ielEk/s1600/040712+Easter+grassy+cloth+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="558" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1Tn3sR45p78ip-NUs7GmyUkW6cKGkKY0BQKdXQXKeiNtnnlOw2juVTUIj8IUCBaNn7L6eReAOqmGYJAqSogZmtbxkA1fByzFNl3xQM0attGl5dsTJNwIcOWQmvNuO2zxmCwZSIi8ielEk/s640/040712+Easter+grassy+cloth+(Medium).JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
I added an Easter egg centerpiece and planned to put colored eggs down the center of the table with a number of blue/green/yellow candles.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaVxChzquOjVpTU3JE144FQ26vMrnupZtooW048J0826wz7YbWS_W5nitkUBC8t9B4d6ysvf6jRiMdzSOQM8dOma3L8rvpcnOvcxO2Q1fan6Ek8h6k4zpdQ1oj_cyUEoKZrNPGvekhcYRr/s1600/easter+egg+centerpiece+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="462" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaVxChzquOjVpTU3JE144FQ26vMrnupZtooW048J0826wz7YbWS_W5nitkUBC8t9B4d6ysvf6jRiMdzSOQM8dOma3L8rvpcnOvcxO2Q1fan6Ek8h6k4zpdQ1oj_cyUEoKZrNPGvekhcYRr/s640/easter+egg+centerpiece+(Medium).JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
I even brought out the cabbage salt and pepper shakers:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmexo96vU7Ph9Q8SB9cjpO4ei8TbPk8mLEmlMyhQo19S1y3VsLg4-VRZndgrFPf7ecr-Q5AYNrxOd6DxMQHdjzlT8jwCzwbZlVTwxECrtuzRA710jRpaIgEhr4x_DPPYkwGSmOjb9FclTW/s1600/2012+easter+grassy+cloth+cabbage+sp+shakers+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmexo96vU7Ph9Q8SB9cjpO4ei8TbPk8mLEmlMyhQo19S1y3VsLg4-VRZndgrFPf7ecr-Q5AYNrxOd6DxMQHdjzlT8jwCzwbZlVTwxECrtuzRA710jRpaIgEhr4x_DPPYkwGSmOjb9FclTW/s640/2012+easter+grassy+cloth+cabbage+sp+shakers+(Medium).JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then we were invited an Easter potluck, so I jumped at the chance to make one dish and not have to spend all day cooking. I never finished the table. I had good intentions, though. Maybe next year.</div>Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978112672451468064.post-79479579274535237572012-02-26T15:56:00.003-05:002012-03-14T15:43:51.419-04:00New Contemporary Dining Room Chair CoversFriday afternoon I finished some new dining room chair covers. When I purchased the fabric, they only had 3.33 yards and I knew it would not be quite enough.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuVksIrbsT-oqY92fQMg-Bq_RG7jTk-oNm2f84oyo-AJrH9gcUv1rdIsJclWFVY_FBHIjqh2k75vKobT91menAvc4Wy2K32jR5tAS_YBWDfGBfKMib6QnuaWsQ_0l92y1yjTja8ybSnggI/s1600/DR+chair+covers+centerpiece+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuVksIrbsT-oqY92fQMg-Bq_RG7jTk-oNm2f84oyo-AJrH9gcUv1rdIsJclWFVY_FBHIjqh2k75vKobT91menAvc4Wy2K32jR5tAS_YBWDfGBfKMib6QnuaWsQ_0l92y1yjTja8ybSnggI/s640/DR+chair+covers+centerpiece+(Medium).JPG" width="640" /></a></div> So I had to add a coordinating fabric to the two end chairs. I was thrilled to find something I already had in my fabric stash. I had about five yards of it! I think I originally bought it to make neutral chair backs. <br />
<br />
Here is a close up of the end chairs:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQRNVsZgyu7qrsDQ1uDl003u5dkrTaCTOm4iAoo3Mh7jZwOrSE0c2W7c48kIJI5xjFk8IAUc5XlDyhfugQWXK7f6tWSSYWJRjw3pM8xjLMVKqlupVzUHCerbpGzAQ5Ah6MEmZv-6n9B-1c/s1600/end+chairs+diff+fabriccu+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQRNVsZgyu7qrsDQ1uDl003u5dkrTaCTOm4iAoo3Mh7jZwOrSE0c2W7c48kIJI5xjFk8IAUc5XlDyhfugQWXK7f6tWSSYWJRjw3pM8xjLMVKqlupVzUHCerbpGzAQ5Ah6MEmZv-6n9B-1c/s400/end+chairs+diff+fabriccu+(Medium).JPG" width="393" /></a></div><br />
I am pretty happy with these contemporary chair covers. I think it will be such fun to set a full table with them. They look like Easter eggs, so I think an Easter table would be perfect!<br />
<br />
But since it's not quite time for an Easter table, I set it in a contemporary style with colored-water floating candle holders to match the colors in the chair covers.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6Mg1e7bA7kwAnnDrTtjiNZ3BELBlHr_6yqqQrGwKxmIzsEAxkr0whn9AXjhtlrwQ1HNPBneCI5JXJCW3WqMgYyzU1BZQTfw15x-uftsCCSqPCj1MvL9LmDxgnDp2fcYq_CbWrm9XOBjVi/s1600/chair+back+tablescapex+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6Mg1e7bA7kwAnnDrTtjiNZ3BELBlHr_6yqqQrGwKxmIzsEAxkr0whn9AXjhtlrwQ1HNPBneCI5JXJCW3WqMgYyzU1BZQTfw15x-uftsCCSqPCj1MvL9LmDxgnDp2fcYq_CbWrm9XOBjVi/s640/chair+back+tablescapex+(Medium).JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
I still need to put out the flatware and candles, but I think I like the direction it's taking.<br />

I was looking for inspiration from some of my previous tablescapes:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjVCQ7t4T4hMY_e8VJ-ZfsDfIMm2DEIop3nb-CabdoYzA6NQfabLXkOiFq5Qppw3fOSZa1pr8k-XA7gEBPr-dkLz6NhPztNKQjUU_GxqaTNIrcclafqKpGJA8o4c-rc_OMEc2tjaE3wHg/s1600/Easter+collage+(Medium).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="494" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjVCQ7t4T4hMY_e8VJ-ZfsDfIMm2DEIop3nb-CabdoYzA6NQfabLXkOiFq5Qppw3fOSZa1pr8k-XA7gEBPr-dkLz6NhPztNKQjUU_GxqaTNIrcclafqKpGJA8o4c-rc_OMEc2tjaE3wHg/s640/Easter+collage+(Medium).jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
I am tossing around the idea of hanging a tree branch from my chandelier this year and hanging my hand-decorated real eggs from it. Right now I am considering hosting an Easter brunch instead of a dinner. <br />
<br />
These previous year tables give me a good idea of what I have to work with as far as the table itself. I don't know about you, but I forget what I have from year to year.<br />
<br />
It is not too early to begin thinking of your Easter plans for this year!Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978112672451468064.post-5429619565096735812012-02-13T05:17:00.001-05:002012-02-13T05:20:19.950-05:00Valentine Tablescape 2012<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimgnd_j-5fDhvZOpOt-5hsHqmgxDO5HgyI0qbzTRQk4Tqn9j8HXam2MLGDMwswZp2pOwbAzpqEUnawIGmNe3USeBDcWnspSdbzfuevM1lka8dyDXX3-Jrbk6pOwRH132kaH6Z-J6Mv1Lc6/s1600/valentine+tablescape+2012+(Medium).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimgnd_j-5fDhvZOpOt-5hsHqmgxDO5HgyI0qbzTRQk4Tqn9j8HXam2MLGDMwswZp2pOwbAzpqEUnawIGmNe3USeBDcWnspSdbzfuevM1lka8dyDXX3-Jrbk6pOwRH132kaH6Z-J6Mv1Lc6/s1600/valentine+tablescape+2012+(Medium).JPG" /></a><br />

I wanted to do a table that coordinated with my bronze/green Christmas tree:
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFee_4K2QFqeHAMFrIUwYfxcYHPwGza1OpLvVWVCj-Co1kPzmuft4Nv1gEYjoLd_rb-dp42TjqKNHS-ZnKQZOhawFjDE4cN4P7jufRYfSlRRuma959vHAeryF30PiSodI55TeK2HNgPVBu/s1600/pears+addedx+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="528" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFee_4K2QFqeHAMFrIUwYfxcYHPwGza1OpLvVWVCj-Co1kPzmuft4Nv1gEYjoLd_rb-dp42TjqKNHS-ZnKQZOhawFjDE4cN4P7jufRYfSlRRuma959vHAeryF30PiSodI55TeK2HNgPVBu/s640/pears+addedx+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Since I work full-time I had to begin preparations over the past weekend. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCatTyHovVUEePQQdOIZkjs4hy4aYE5dWGSWeGXYP40J3AC-oxAV9b2XduVzqtRBUL8uKmJMKi5mpOK9nV8Wwp7GPWg6dOxhR3rP3oFA5EsbsSi4eLByKaFddXSRFpW5AEr9LNTpQ-Tb2y/s1600/green+gold+xmas+table2+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCatTyHovVUEePQQdOIZkjs4hy4aYE5dWGSWeGXYP40J3AC-oxAV9b2XduVzqtRBUL8uKmJMKi5mpOK9nV8Wwp7GPWg6dOxhR3rP3oFA5EsbsSi4eLByKaFddXSRFpW5AEr9LNTpQ-Tb2y/s640/green+gold+xmas+table2+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
I set a fairly simple table with a very easy centerpiece of pinecones and green glass & silver mesh balls. I nestled six votive candles among the greens.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtLDjiynNRTz24s5oY2GCwlMAFMGNvdzfCvouttROQEjJfLUKdBCSVqoDDe7aytALJovgJUONaJim4xiI3GoQ-5iAqAJ9kxYtS6Mxn2fj3psq0b-MBDc615RZzSBJ1KOFdyIhyTTsHpToK/s1600/cmas+centerp+pinecones+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtLDjiynNRTz24s5oY2GCwlMAFMGNvdzfCvouttROQEjJfLUKdBCSVqoDDe7aytALJovgJUONaJim4xiI3GoQ-5iAqAJ9kxYtS6Mxn2fj3psq0b-MBDc615RZzSBJ1KOFdyIhyTTsHpToK/s640/cmas+centerp+pinecones+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
These amber glasses are circa 1974.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDt_h2fmBTqFB47y7YqpgwR5mBLO3E21wK6rmMlLxB_5veYs37Ku9gzleH6VQ3p_r6qVfwPxuTpVe2XRU48kk6xVowaEIYGIy8daHS63YMYONi6tBMb1hFhALzENRKCe6EhzmTc7IUwc3S/s1600/circa+1974+amber+glasses+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDt_h2fmBTqFB47y7YqpgwR5mBLO3E21wK6rmMlLxB_5veYs37Ku9gzleH6VQ3p_r6qVfwPxuTpVe2XRU48kk6xVowaEIYGIy8daHS63YMYONi6tBMb1hFhALzENRKCe6EhzmTc7IUwc3S/s640/circa+1974+amber+glasses+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I like this table. I like the simplicity and how it blends so nicely with the bronze/green Christmas tree.<br />
<br />
I also set a second table as I am having 11 guests and they won't all fit around one table. I don't have enough of the same dishes, etc., so I did this table differently, yet not glaringly so. I still used pine cones in the centerpiece and green plates. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvuifiCMU1vnzAarjGjBq5PO4DNUZy4AEYwpixAAJGPn8RKpEPPZW0OFrgkSu-SlH4dIxBOlgcU50R-Oiqb9eBxuU2YzzZzlSg5T_vRwhPocVgLiBGRJsRdibyQCtnH8QHFZ7x6JQZCfTy/s1600/pinecone+center+tbl2+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="470" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvuifiCMU1vnzAarjGjBq5PO4DNUZy4AEYwpixAAJGPn8RKpEPPZW0OFrgkSu-SlH4dIxBOlgcU50R-Oiqb9eBxuU2YzzZzlSg5T_vRwhPocVgLiBGRJsRdibyQCtnH8QHFZ7x6JQZCfTy/s640/pinecone+center+tbl2+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I reversed the glassware/napkins colors. The pink tablecloth goes with the pink hydrangea tree as this table sits right next to that tree.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I was a little disappointed that the table that got the most views was not even one I designed. You can see more of this one by clicking on the heading text above the pic.<br />
<br />
#2 <a href="http://tablescaping.blogspot.com/2008/12/black-white-and-red-rose-table.html">Black, White and Red Rose Table</a>:<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQJ4iOyOwDhVcCJP4DrnmBJqUoYMlnYqhmEb_oar72AcNw2Y1qpyJT9JNBEmGh8bHPV7mGUML4gnWIuEVcS2Uw8LCG_rInOI-q7_FErjIgbDCUNwZoJIQfuCcHfg6CiScKzJvWp2SRgf0/s1600-h/BLACK+WHITE+Red+rose+table.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" height="467" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5277183401110426962" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQJ4iOyOwDhVcCJP4DrnmBJqUoYMlnYqhmEb_oar72AcNw2Y1qpyJT9JNBEmGh8bHPV7mGUML4gnWIuEVcS2Uw8LCG_rInOI-q7_FErjIgbDCUNwZoJIQfuCcHfg6CiScKzJvWp2SRgf0/s640/BLACK+WHITE+Red+rose+table.JPG" style="display: block; height: 292px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" width="640" /></a><br />
This classic table is also one of my favorites so I was not surprised to see this as #2.<br />
<br />
#3 <a href="http://tablescaping.blogspot.com/2009/04/its-jungle-out-there.html"> It's a Jungle Out There</a>:<br />

I have done other jungle tables that I like better. I guess having the word "jungle" in the post header caused the search engines to pull up this one when people googled. Now I am wondering where that fabric went! It would have been perfect for a<a href="http://zoeyquilts.blogspot.com/2011/10/new-project-began-and-finished-today.html"> recent animal handbag</a> I made. <br />
#4 <a href="http://tablescaping.blogspot.com/2009/04/black-silver-and-white-tablescape.html">Black, Silver and White Tablescape</a>:<br />

Another classic color combo. I like this one, too.<br />
<br />
#5 <a href="http://tablescaping.blogspot.com/2009/02/valentines-table-09.html">Valentine's Table 2009</a>:<br />

<br />
Hmmmm...these selections are interesting to me. Four of the five tables have black as a prominent color. People must like black.<br />
<br />
Overall I have done a lot of tables that are more interesting than these. <br />
<br />
Have you ever checked to see your stats to see what your top 5 posts are? I wonder if you were surprised, too.Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978112672451468064.post-2242615728238911382011-05-26T16:36:00.004-04:002011-05-26T16:36:00.512-04:00Purple, Grape Hyacinths and Tiger PlatesI made this grape hyacinth bouquet outside on my flower arranging bench.<br />

Maybe next year.............Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978112672451468064.post-39536560420934395622011-05-24T16:11:00.000-04:002011-05-24T16:11:07.351-04:00Where I Store it All--Well, Most of It--OK, at least 3/4th's of ItI have shown this area before, but I recently spent six hours (over two days) removing everything from these cabinets, rearranging the shelves, washing all of them and then putting it all back (not exactly all...I did donate three boxes of dishes that I felt certain I would never use to a thrift store---<em>I am not a hoarder...I am not a hoarder</em>). Now it all fits better and I can find what I want and I can get it out easily.<br />
<br />
I am not going to talk about every shelf, but will highlight a few of my favorites. I am very fortunate to have this large area solely to indulge my dish hobby. <br />
<br />
Here are the first two units (I have four of these): I used to have all the shelves the same size, but noticed some buckling of the shelves, so I decided that I needed to put most of the super heavy plates on the bottom where there is more support. That meant I had to remove the four little silver thingies that hold each shelf and re-adjust them all. . . major ordeal....let me tell you...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUE0eaCDXb3-8FBgq1B2W1gbQ8aiSMK-u9ix0N3omqaWxANYkxynmkU1IVmSKTXtob4YuXKEXYObMt6qqnGXlEc4dPOBEDa4wJAFeS9s5ArAyKHqO6v177eDN090QNesRcYVM_MltN8t4/s1600/dish+storage+1+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUE0eaCDXb3-8FBgq1B2W1gbQ8aiSMK-u9ix0N3omqaWxANYkxynmkU1IVmSKTXtob4YuXKEXYObMt6qqnGXlEc4dPOBEDa4wJAFeS9s5ArAyKHqO6v177eDN090QNesRcYVM_MltN8t4/s640/dish+storage+1+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="480" /></a></div> In the first section notice that I made the last area very small. I wanted to be able to have a shelf all by itself for my super big heavy meat fork and knife set. It is a beautiful set, but it used to be on the bottom of about a dozen other trays and was way to difficult to get to, so I rarely used it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZastmutsKaB5iMsp73ivbIDD0fyLyFGmUCLUBHjyKnQdj9ZFIwAgMM7W07-9ovbOAnlagFeeLWHksmSD4xw36o27GVNyUfoXtYIW1CM9HYaNpVSWAwJaQ_gJdsg47lbEPR7GyCwKlVmQ/s1600/dish+storage+meat+knife+fork+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZastmutsKaB5iMsp73ivbIDD0fyLyFGmUCLUBHjyKnQdj9ZFIwAgMM7W07-9ovbOAnlagFeeLWHksmSD4xw36o27GVNyUfoXtYIW1CM9HYaNpVSWAwJaQ_gJdsg47lbEPR7GyCwKlVmQ/s640/dish+storage+meat+knife+fork+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="622" /></a></div>Just look at those beautiful ducks engraved on the handles! Now I can easily pull it out--wonderful!<br />
<br />
<br />
One shelf is dedicated to my Tiara glass. I have loved this amber-colored dishware since the 1980's (when everyone else hated it--perhaps they still do, but I still love it).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDOntFMm6NL6HfyjbYCjKizUAqImT15kEpSzv6YgJAkUAp9NVN9AT2pPRCOwiog7kKjtc8Y2AloTC4vsrHgPBUi3wLjviEXCeoqIwQzHThnuQlCInEalIaXye5zPkd38YscqXxA3Rv2HY/s1600/dish+storage+gold+dishes+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDOntFMm6NL6HfyjbYCjKizUAqImT15kEpSzv6YgJAkUAp9NVN9AT2pPRCOwiog7kKjtc8Y2AloTC4vsrHgPBUi3wLjviEXCeoqIwQzHThnuQlCInEalIaXye5zPkd38YscqXxA3Rv2HY/s640/dish+storage+gold+dishes+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Here are the other two shelf units:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-3MseBe0FRlOMOTzFYu6vnlQizyNeEuVcB3kkJNrwLVM6k2OpGu_ssbIWzg0Xehi_ZuVeLQZTJNFEoT747eLudZLjwXTvMFzIzoibFEwsnkzSefE2fMXM2Z6fAC72juA-rHJzXIbTCEQ/s1600/dish+storage+2side+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-3MseBe0FRlOMOTzFYu6vnlQizyNeEuVcB3kkJNrwLVM6k2OpGu_ssbIWzg0Xehi_ZuVeLQZTJNFEoT747eLudZLjwXTvMFzIzoibFEwsnkzSefE2fMXM2Z6fAC72juA-rHJzXIbTCEQ/s640/dish+storage+2side+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="480" /></a></div> Some of you may be wondering what all the white stuff is sticking out of the dish stacks. Some of it is paper toweling and some is felt. I use both to prevent scratches.<br />
<br />
I put another skinny shelf on the top of the end section for big heavy relish trays. Shelf #2 is full of small relish trays. You would think we eat a lot of relish around here--LOL.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaYhHF4mWW3wWerVj2Cc52ZaKIF0w3t1P_jkPw3H_Y2U5APj4Lu35gkjVAMjtZlI8A66DDCkgJ4uQC2fS8-Rp5yOGgXmj2M8ZWnCQI7Fq0rT5pTM_jzWj8DXJC9NwtiJtY0rN4Cze1bdY/s1600/pedestal+servers+condiments+relish+trays+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaYhHF4mWW3wWerVj2Cc52ZaKIF0w3t1P_jkPw3H_Y2U5APj4Lu35gkjVAMjtZlI8A66DDCkgJ4uQC2fS8-Rp5yOGgXmj2M8ZWnCQI7Fq0rT5pTM_jzWj8DXJC9NwtiJtY0rN4Cze1bdY/s640/pedestal+servers+condiments+relish+trays+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> The third shelf holds most of my pedestal servers--cake plates and footed bowls.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
The bottom shelf holds white milk glass plates and my collection of those vintage crystal star plates (can't think of the proper name right now--maybe Federal Star or something similar--anybody know?).<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD2BBae1RsQN5iIvia8ximPg5FMh3avUB5ggBeQrybPiICV90bVjngtwYcPtdQwWpmY3_cyCddJdW3AhbglvgyAom_B1xfc2aaWlYrWG6_gyGUn8Cqq-TgqqKFMr9Dz8ej3OtNFpEf4TE/s1600/white+clear+items+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="372" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD2BBae1RsQN5iIvia8ximPg5FMh3avUB5ggBeQrybPiICV90bVjngtwYcPtdQwWpmY3_cyCddJdW3AhbglvgyAom_B1xfc2aaWlYrWG6_gyGUn8Cqq-TgqqKFMr9Dz8ej3OtNFpEf4TE/s640/white+clear+items+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div> I cannot tell you how good it feels to have this job done. I had DH take the 3 boxes to goodwill right away so I would not be tempted to grab more items back. I did grab a few before he left.<br />
<br />
Like these tarnished silver plated items:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSw6nzBi1QN0RIMIHdCx5O4Os4Qz1IeqKdIkByRc1SQUwZKxrGpvXtdbLVhL5wcN0N28Gr2iAYpjdT85arjfd1Y9c8ZLKGyQVRb33XcKxmAcGAKCm5UOpqiYRvoivmGkyLoZXIfgomo_s/s1600/tarnished+silverplate+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSw6nzBi1QN0RIMIHdCx5O4Os4Qz1IeqKdIkByRc1SQUwZKxrGpvXtdbLVhL5wcN0N28Gr2iAYpjdT85arjfd1Y9c8ZLKGyQVRb33XcKxmAcGAKCm5UOpqiYRvoivmGkyLoZXIfgomo_s/s640/tarnished+silverplate+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="458" /></a></div> I sent at least 6 silver plated items to Goodwill. These two called out to me just before they left, so I took them out of the goodwill box and spent a few minutes cleaning them with silver cleaner. They did clean up nicely, don't you think?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I tossed on a purple tablecloth:<br />

I have decided to cut tulips each week and do a quick easy table to match. <br />
<br />
These tables are the 10-minute variety. You won't find me working all week on a table. As an empty-nester, I only have to set weekday tables for two (sometimes only one). Even my more elaborate guest tables are less than one hour. I have too many other things to do and I bet you do, too!<br />
<br />
But just because we lead busy lives, does not mean we have to sacrifice a nice dinner table. I already had this bright parrot tulip centerpiece on the table.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuVqTO5a-iP_8sLYn1sFVta3l0VwcYRYklRGGQd3TIF3YEwwvDtVB0F0bq4Ig_-7NAunSBZEFDHn2uW2Osi0weRXwYtpvnPAMF6dAKV7NUd7W_eXPFKeQXRzH6bSDReaM8D5F35PBWm-Y/s1600/100_8462+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="622" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuVqTO5a-iP_8sLYn1sFVta3l0VwcYRYklRGGQd3TIF3YEwwvDtVB0F0bq4Ig_-7NAunSBZEFDHn2uW2Osi0weRXwYtpvnPAMF6dAKV7NUd7W_eXPFKeQXRzH6bSDReaM8D5F35PBWm-Y/s640/100_8462+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>All I had to do to complete the dinner setting was find some matching dishes. Since the flowers were in a cobalt blue vase, it was an easy choice-- cobalt blue dinner plates. The red/white flowered salad plate went with the flower theme.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2VzGIYo99NY7OIqjpfC8AcuEqdDPg8FF2S0ySHPYCrEq8YlUOfnLNveHJtv4kcVOB2OF55bkoV9imvZZ5zmh-T4RcBEJZb8NWKU1hCwVdfz_x0_eHwdrSySj5BWhnjfkC_kQJbpcnOIQ/s1600/parrot+tulip+tablescape1+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2VzGIYo99NY7OIqjpfC8AcuEqdDPg8FF2S0ySHPYCrEq8YlUOfnLNveHJtv4kcVOB2OF55bkoV9imvZZ5zmh-T4RcBEJZb8NWKU1hCwVdfz_x0_eHwdrSySj5BWhnjfkC_kQJbpcnOIQ/s640/parrot+tulip+tablescape1+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>My favorite red-flowered bowl glasses seemed to work just fine.<br />

<br />
I recently made the chalkboard section of this menu pig, so I decided to use him, too. If guests were coming, I would have changed his tie to somthing with red and yellow (tiny details really impress guests). :)<br />

<br />
I have had the fabric for years, but never seem to remember it for Cinco de Mayo. I was thrilled that I finally remembered to use it.<br />
<br />
I was happy to find dishes in almost the same colors as the fabric. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVTKzdFuTJVYyXwJ4Tle1oOYtTniCCCrMQluOfkDHavFbEPRR2lFaSSaH88B-6KcabJ6tsukBKsGxqsTQ5uKeF-bHGyivRMJ-x8-Enq7MXEANx0XUYpOgvNJCgcpnGsP7AOnPYvHN1hMc/s1600/cinco+de+mayo+table+taco+holder+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="582" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVTKzdFuTJVYyXwJ4Tle1oOYtTniCCCrMQluOfkDHavFbEPRR2lFaSSaH88B-6KcabJ6tsukBKsGxqsTQ5uKeF-bHGyivRMJ-x8-Enq7MXEANx0XUYpOgvNJCgcpnGsP7AOnPYvHN1hMc/s640/cinco+de+mayo+table+taco+holder+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>The sombreros I used as napkin rings look a tad too blah for me. They were a last minute addition. I had no time to embellish--they really could have used some bright ribbons tied around the brim.<br />

<br />
<br />
Don't you just love these paper flowers? My friend at work made them. She is the Food & Beverage Director and she needed big flowers for one her bar parties. These were sitting in the liquor room for the past year and she let me borrow them for last night. I think they made the entire table pop!<br />

We like hard shell tacos and that thing is what holds them upright on the plate. I use them everytime I have tacos. After work today, I started to make a placemat for the Mikasa leopard dishes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOyzJ-zg5XmmOCs_3FHNCR23gEgo4CsRL3wth5WwoUXiT-Mv9PoniSSqCRpBXRwd4vC49KxniY308H1jqajRpQ4L4zyQceAP0G0jv-WtpDhdMjgQ7SjVDC0ZHjS29AHLbbosjf98IBcgM/s1600/100_8094+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOyzJ-zg5XmmOCs_3FHNCR23gEgo4CsRL3wth5WwoUXiT-Mv9PoniSSqCRpBXRwd4vC49KxniY308H1jqajRpQ4L4zyQceAP0G0jv-WtpDhdMjgQ7SjVDC0ZHjS29AHLbbosjf98IBcgM/s640/100_8094+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>I still need to add some batting and quilt it, but I think this mat is going to be purrrfect for these big <br />
cat-print dishes!<br />
<br />
I will do and post a full table after I finish making 4 of these placemats. In the meantime, I am still working on the hot pink/leopard table. I have not really done any "work" on it, but I have given it a thought or two. :)Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978112672451468064.post-56302695859482467172011-04-25T18:49:00.002-04:002011-04-26T15:49:05.803-04:00Mikasa Leopard Dishes TablescapeI love these chic animal print dishes. This is the first set of square dinner plates I have owned. I like how the soup bowl is round, but the dinner and salad plate are square.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgop1OJ2r1rz8reYZxhpoTUYZHxtlkDSkXZRpmz17Rdn9lifFbvmIRHm9jvuT450daU0ub5aD6ryyQ0V-ump6BDaGxjoHOBc3kJJU8_1-DGhL_qcfTZTveZl68-TUhfKMNO0jb79aMBMS4/s1600/SAFARI+CHARDONNAY+FULL+SETTINGX+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgop1OJ2r1rz8reYZxhpoTUYZHxtlkDSkXZRpmz17Rdn9lifFbvmIRHm9jvuT450daU0ub5aD6ryyQ0V-ump6BDaGxjoHOBc3kJJU8_1-DGhL_qcfTZTveZl68-TUhfKMNO0jb79aMBMS4/s640/SAFARI+CHARDONNAY+FULL+SETTINGX+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>I angled the salad plate to give each setting more interest.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div> I tried some brown-handled flatware, but in the end, I decided that my gold flatware worked best with these dishes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9E0fJKZzH0vuh5aE2U3tLXkBG1bL5ZyJFBZpyf6eOd8iXHEMBGGphly3cq9_IfoZndKpOWGykspDLHZWxOG-hvyFLX7E1cH7w2CSINxQaXAMVH6Qi3ofa561Ye7AdHRzDtLkMxfz5DRc/s1600/LEOPARD+MIKASA+CUX+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9E0fJKZzH0vuh5aE2U3tLXkBG1bL5ZyJFBZpyf6eOd8iXHEMBGGphly3cq9_IfoZndKpOWGykspDLHZWxOG-hvyFLX7E1cH7w2CSINxQaXAMVH6Qi3ofa561Ye7AdHRzDtLkMxfz5DRc/s400/LEOPARD+MIKASA+CUX+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I had fun making my own wine label. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Notice that tree on the right side of the artwork?</div><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkFNsQ_zUaNhoSV53BVoLf-_u5pUBvFJXa1CkatQuTQW6JtJUvUrmVvYiVqXfyZ4v3yVoF_ZTrs7d-Q73wVfY2CyltYb9IQdi5aranE0aTHkLYE5_EpwL95vDzoqKG2CrNtBECj-6SjtU/s1600/100_8024+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkFNsQ_zUaNhoSV53BVoLf-_u5pUBvFJXa1CkatQuTQW6JtJUvUrmVvYiVqXfyZ4v3yVoF_ZTrs7d-Q73wVfY2CyltYb9IQdi5aranE0aTHkLYE5_EpwL95vDzoqKG2CrNtBECj-6SjtU/s640/100_8024+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="480" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">That tree inspired my centerpiece. I was having some difficulty coming up with a centerpiece to go with these dishes. I wanted to use only items I already had. While looking out the kitchen window I noticed the Sedum Autumn Joy and thought, why not give it a try.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5wlC7T_crIiaIUvB1EywTI-j1KWeW_rYOCby7D-FRnT4S0Lu8DhJoNlq07mXebQpNvzlk0ZmVIc8nUgYSdtsLEPWAwVAUWuu7CQ4kVO6Oj8g-CRDg_3K2o3c3ztcx-WvsglU0ICzBk1w/s1600/CENTERPIECE+LEOPARD+DISHES+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5wlC7T_crIiaIUvB1EywTI-j1KWeW_rYOCby7D-FRnT4S0Lu8DhJoNlq07mXebQpNvzlk0ZmVIc8nUgYSdtsLEPWAwVAUWuu7CQ4kVO6Oj8g-CRDg_3K2o3c3ztcx-WvsglU0ICzBk1w/s640/CENTERPIECE+LEOPARD+DISHES+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a>Do you see the resemblance of the tree and this dead sedum Autumn Joy that I picked from my garden? I added some dead silver artemesia to give it a bit of spark. Seriously, this is a bunch of dead flowers that overwintered in my garden-- I would normally toss these on the compost heap! It's amazing what can be done with just a bit of thinking outside the box!</div><br />
What a stroke of luck--I had glasses that seem to be made for these leopard dishes! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3wulREw_uhzVdp726AmJljFdGzzOUdJuS5Q-PCaxllVsqc_Q6OExarr9yUHqZ8Rn2hwVQ_S6G2aDF8DCzkipQLd6kqHsZuKQvLZT918vOBYeKo08OjKIotj0OoiyZu6h4sHUN0sMYTt4/s1600/martini+glass+leopard+dishes+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3wulREw_uhzVdp726AmJljFdGzzOUdJuS5Q-PCaxllVsqc_Q6OExarr9yUHqZ8Rn2hwVQ_S6G2aDF8DCzkipQLd6kqHsZuKQvLZT918vOBYeKo08OjKIotj0OoiyZu6h4sHUN0sMYTt4/s640/martini+glass+leopard+dishes+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>Just look at the perfect color of that martini glass stem!<br />
<br />

<br />
I also made a menu - it's amazing how easy all of this is with computers!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrAz6rUx-_Tte9p_iP0ucOzGQQqhac5h7sgezrravDgnNoapMge8UN3potg5GlcrcvmQLTsNpIwCJpbQfte8KL9QmcUM15X484VIKi7cL_pwnT0cgXsSobZl09CzvbC5yFFIuhQ_dEr-I/s1600/100_8039+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrAz6rUx-_Tte9p_iP0ucOzGQQqhac5h7sgezrravDgnNoapMge8UN3potg5GlcrcvmQLTsNpIwCJpbQfte8KL9QmcUM15X484VIKi7cL_pwnT0cgXsSobZl09CzvbC5yFFIuhQ_dEr-I/s640/100_8039+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>Did you notice that I added jewelry to the lotus candle holder next to the menu? Jewelry is not just for the body. I use it all the time on my tables. I used one of my favorite necklaces on the wine bottle. Did you catch that? Look at the wine bottle. I wear that necklace all the time!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizxMluWm8ECB5AWOX1AJHJz2UXO0uSrtm0Oi0RmuwClDB2XX9de1UQjzvfqVRydmsZTSOLnmE5iP722fuXNVs7HIeWNNKKAEg8IrKHmpsZgm7otvjkHVFjQs1tdQjMPTa0KP_O37UNyw4/s1600/mikasa+leopard+dishes+table+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizxMluWm8ECB5AWOX1AJHJz2UXO0uSrtm0Oi0RmuwClDB2XX9de1UQjzvfqVRydmsZTSOLnmE5iP722fuXNVs7HIeWNNKKAEg8IrKHmpsZgm7otvjkHVFjQs1tdQjMPTa0KP_O37UNyw4/s640/mikasa+leopard+dishes+table+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a><br />

I am planning to do another table with these same dishes. <br />
<br />
I am thinking leopard and hot pink! I think these Mikasa leopard dishes are going to be very versatile. I may even do a third table and mix them with my zebra dishes.<br />
<br />
I received these dishes from Lifetime Brands, Inc. a nationally branded <i><span style="font-style: italic;">kitchenware, tabletop</span></i> and <i><span style="font-style: italic;">home décor</span></i> resource. They asked me to set a table and do a candid post about their dinnerware. I have done exactly that and I hope you enjoyed seeing these unique dishes.<br />

<br />
Are you kidding? <br />
<br />
I immediately emailed them back and said, YES, I would love to attempt a tablescape with these gorgeous dishes!<br />
<br />
The company said they would be sending the dishes out immediately. I half expected it to be a scam.<br />
<br />
But lo and behold in less than a week these dishes arrived. I was thrilled. They are a good quality stoneware from Mikasa. At the moment I have no idea how I will set the table, but I will post later in the week with the tablescape I come up with. So please stop by later this week to see what I do with these dishes. Here is another table that combines my two hobbies of quilting and table setting. I made six of these quilt blocks called Dresden Plate -- so fitting for what I am using them for!<br />
<br />
They are often made in pastels and usually sewn into a quilt like the one on the left (picture came from <a href="http://www.patternsfromhistory.com/colonial_revival/dresden-plate.htm">this site</a> on quilt history).<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The ones I made are far from pastel and I decided to use mine for place mat/chargers to start a table in red and black. Here are my black and red polka dot Dresden Plates at the beginning of this tablescape:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibh70l00w1Za0PVS1SncL7WFznkq7YVP4temltcgQm7-ldZ8uwPdjyqUU-WETau06wukoMdJ3RsNkoQ7sDoSXH1XuJiYJaFO6Z2gXnVw_CjZfdYt0xsg4chEKABBgVgsd2voGXRSCqQ58/s1600/dresden+plate+chargers+done+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="258" j6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibh70l00w1Za0PVS1SncL7WFznkq7YVP4temltcgQm7-ldZ8uwPdjyqUU-WETau06wukoMdJ3RsNkoQ7sDoSXH1XuJiYJaFO6Z2gXnVw_CjZfdYt0xsg4chEKABBgVgsd2voGXRSCqQ58/s400/dresden+plate+chargers+done+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
When I am finished you will only see the tips of these chargers.<br />
<br />
Here is the table as I am setting it. I like the look with just the salad plates, but I need to cover them because I am serving soup, so I need soup bowls. Once the soup is finished, I am happy to know that everyone will see this before the salad is brought to the table.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCP01cykGMz_FysRx4bsnCSH45gPHhFa-uKRPL22p1omg_3978DnYgKMnZJBeSE_NErYBR27fkUFpL0hYvMbGpj_zk-JB0qhK2iB-AV35ZD4rKZcqUOFFA7z8MZAYkWgO4EXhVcsGqY_Q/s1600/red+flowered++plates+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="540" j6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCP01cykGMz_FysRx4bsnCSH45gPHhFa-uKRPL22p1omg_3978DnYgKMnZJBeSE_NErYBR27fkUFpL0hYvMbGpj_zk-JB0qhK2iB-AV35ZD4rKZcqUOFFA7z8MZAYkWgO4EXhVcsGqY_Q/s640/red+flowered++plates+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Here is the completed table with the soup bowls.<br />

I really don't even care where they should go. This is not exactly dining at the White House, so who cares about proper etiquette--no need to get stressed over something like that.<br />
<br />
Here is a side view of the place setting:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPlSI6zd3nm-eHBhEvCHvsD1NAfjD1jASFLxJ8goF0rMmOzkQNC_cZ8u7BUxaQtIJhYGlcsQ9mmDjdWsaCI4-Xjw7JZGARMKYWEoPqOVoNAI8gQdJKjrn4S7NbA0u9SahwwTQRJdqpyPk/s1600/black+red+table+side+viewx+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" j6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPlSI6zd3nm-eHBhEvCHvsD1NAfjD1jASFLxJ8goF0rMmOzkQNC_cZ8u7BUxaQtIJhYGlcsQ9mmDjdWsaCI4-Xjw7JZGARMKYWEoPqOVoNAI8gQdJKjrn4S7NbA0u9SahwwTQRJdqpyPk/s640/black+red+table+side+viewx+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> and a close up of one of the silver balls.<br />

<br />
And that's all. I am not into taking 15 or 16 pictures of my tables. I think once you see the whole table, you've really seen all you care to see. <br />
<br />
Happy tablescaping!<br />

I thought I would share just in case any of my readers want to use this idea.<br />

This picture is thanks to Woman's Day magazine.<br />

About 15 years ago I attended an estate auction of a deceased 90+-yr old woman and I bought a few boxes of her cookbooks. She was in a book club (many of the books were labeled "book club edition"). <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlJ_hFMq_72pxrq1g-fntKWrJF2E-yIoF5Rnz5ekSHdS0WOPTlL1m5Fy7vTSWrl5ZG96F2u0MTHPzUa0kMJvsSTA9AHRcRHpKU4alfS18kjjzSIq9sgH75QJZ36076lfLMoWW7SDDoME8/s1600/The+Art+of+Serving+Food+Attractively+%2528Small%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlJ_hFMq_72pxrq1g-fntKWrJF2E-yIoF5Rnz5ekSHdS0WOPTlL1m5Fy7vTSWrl5ZG96F2u0MTHPzUa0kMJvsSTA9AHRcRHpKU4alfS18kjjzSIq9sgH75QJZ36076lfLMoWW7SDDoME8/s320/The+Art+of+Serving+Food+Attractively+%2528Small%2529.JPG" width="242" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Many appeared to have never been opened, like this one from 1960 titled, The Art of Serving Food Attractively. There are none of the beautiful color pictures that we are used to today in this 51-year old book. In fact there were only a few black/white drawings, like this one showing how to make bologna and cheese sandwiches look good--what fun! <br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY__rdGP89NjBI8VKXEPhcP8TATo9yZFwrkga0Lf_bLoHAckUeLNQ3bSGz30aBLeVuR7mawkjJMV-Q-B3Xugh0foGQEb79NR1fbJUI0MUHv4SAm9t6p4s8B7n7cKYceeT8ODIpGQE_DrA/s1600/bologna+cheese+triangles+%2528Large%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="364" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY__rdGP89NjBI8VKXEPhcP8TATo9yZFwrkga0Lf_bLoHAckUeLNQ3bSGz30aBLeVuR7mawkjJMV-Q-B3Xugh0foGQEb79NR1fbJUI0MUHv4SAm9t6p4s8B7n7cKYceeT8ODIpGQE_DrA/s640/bologna+cheese+triangles+%2528Large%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a><br />

I work with people who plan parties, but I have never had a reunion serve a cake like this!<br />
<br />
This book published in 1983 is one of my favorites:<br />

It's now on my bucket list--seriously, before I die, I want to do this sandwich buffet table for Halloween:<br />

It looks very easy to me.<br />
<br />
One of my more current entertaining books is this one from Christopher Lowell--you can tell it's fairly current because he uses the word "tablescapes":<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhytGa3EDrxNVAyD1HezGaQSsfZJ2UEN16u5alu2zrpxphyphenhyphene8D_Kn8Nj0bsxVf_FCxfKgIjUrGq8V90sXqFz3CwThR3LTXWZ9vRnX1QHeXw-kByic8t_wAlIKFYVvg07nT6I9-hEoTwsok/s1600/C+Lowell+Hassle+Free+Host+%2528Small%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="291" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhytGa3EDrxNVAyD1HezGaQSsfZJ2UEN16u5alu2zrpxphyphenhyphene8D_Kn8Nj0bsxVf_FCxfKgIjUrGq8V90sXqFz3CwThR3LTXWZ9vRnX1QHeXw-kByic8t_wAlIKFYVvg07nT6I9-hEoTwsok/s320/C+Lowell+Hassle+Free+Host+%2528Small%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
He has wonderful color pics and sets the type of tables we are all setting today. Look, he even used zebra fabric on this one!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj69duKLj6bxiSUdi31FpBwbcJdhJELSPyY9FBAPl_A9ct3jYoXdtuQu5XRf2r9hrsyW9RCREfeiJLkA7tHyrhCuuftVWdW7XuObg72OoA9OqgYQDawBUPB1YGS0IUkHCORfREBPwM_0wI/s1600/CL+zebra+influence+%2528Large%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="394" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj69duKLj6bxiSUdi31FpBwbcJdhJELSPyY9FBAPl_A9ct3jYoXdtuQu5XRf2r9hrsyW9RCREfeiJLkA7tHyrhCuuftVWdW7XuObg72OoA9OqgYQDawBUPB1YGS0IUkHCORfREBPwM_0wI/s640/CL+zebra+influence+%2528Large%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL9bzBtr1F_6OBge0xFDTxL9GK5TXvrz4pDL03gOiM0q-Kg_KvFrB5XgNJ7UQF0zBKOoIxymiheMK6hjfhyphenhyphenPDJUeTP7OMazJr8IkM0ncQ9Eq_GB04T3Qth2jjiIOS0jgU8YlEVlzEtcFw/s1600/zebra+tapestry+fabric+x+%2528Medium%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_uid_x2il8q="157" height="542" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL9bzBtr1F_6OBge0xFDTxL9GK5TXvrz4pDL03gOiM0q-Kg_KvFrB5XgNJ7UQF0zBKOoIxymiheMK6hjfhyphenhyphenPDJUeTP7OMazJr8IkM0ncQ9Eq_GB04T3Qth2jjiIOS0jgU8YlEVlzEtcFw/s640/zebra+tapestry+fabric+x+%2528Medium%2529.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
After 4 hours of sewing and about 20 minutes to set the table, I ended up with a totally new look for my dining room:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJypHOyKojhWvfv8S7k7CJFt8ebP-HQHUut4wDomdWCqyc8WQCCUXUxPOe-YRiGi-L4NwfywTyfETiC4XXtL459vrtEw24k45DhaDE6Gl4TiXVtSv2L4UCERS-9VkF9QQB8n3Qzm3SjaY/s1600/zebra+tablescape+3+chairs+%2528Large%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJypHOyKojhWvfv8S7k7CJFt8ebP-HQHUut4wDomdWCqyc8WQCCUXUxPOe-YRiGi-L4NwfywTyfETiC4XXtL459vrtEw24k45DhaDE6Gl4TiXVtSv2L4UCERS-9VkF9QQB8n3Qzm3SjaY/s640/zebra+tablescape+3+chairs+%2528Large%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> I made six chair covers to match the plates. They also go nicely with the new green color that we painted the dining room this fall. I immediatley set a quick table so I could see how it would look. I really like the chair covers! I am always thrilled when I spend hours making something and I actually like the finished product. So often, that is NOT the case.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcWOaAPc9zB0x0ejPpAhILwyZH8AkWSw-wFSUONUuvrCNhTr0cnlyW5BX1M8Zf28K4q_jWW5fnT9kRYkeAvt8K5eruf7dgAePNRNlDffU60WASF4QZW__WkJ77vk6SD2XvLUxCWYezk8o/s1600/zebra+green+napkins+xxx+%2528Large%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcWOaAPc9zB0x0ejPpAhILwyZH8AkWSw-wFSUONUuvrCNhTr0cnlyW5BX1M8Zf28K4q_jWW5fnT9kRYkeAvt8K5eruf7dgAePNRNlDffU60WASF4QZW__WkJ77vk6SD2XvLUxCWYezk8o/s640/zebra+green+napkins+xxx+%2528Large%2529.JPG" width="482" /></a><br />
I even got to use my blah pea-soup-green napkins--they rarely go with any table. But for this one, they were perfect!<br />
<br />
I think it's a fun change for the new year. If you look in my header, you can see these same plates used with a 1950's aqua-rimmed dinner plate. Who would have thought zebra plates would be so versatile?<br />
<br />
I also bought a neutral home-dec fabric yesterday to make another set of chair covers. I can't tell you how much fun I have with chair covers. They are so easy to make-basically just a big pillowcase. I already have a gray set, which I use quite often. <br />
<br />
Do any of you make chair covers?<br />
<br />
Update: I removed the cedar greenery and redid the candles with bows and zebra fabric.<br />

I set a small table for two right in front of my Christmas tree. It's a very simple table that DH and I will use to enjoy a cozy meal later this week.<br />
<br />
Of course, I had to use my big red wine glasses.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixhHrPMDZjNXyPDF9PtJIZElmSqbuXMfj-EtJWMwOe6QFXkXiR8Yk_6SWczH_hVNq8z73t2gKG6CF4R2jOOQl5PDMWM8hqAi8OpRM-G1XLBSnTDhjdD_7Eem0q7ylQ2DMpPj32MFGi4h4/s1600/red+glass+candle+tree++%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixhHrPMDZjNXyPDF9PtJIZElmSqbuXMfj-EtJWMwOe6QFXkXiR8Yk_6SWczH_hVNq8z73t2gKG6CF4R2jOOQl5PDMWM8hqAi8OpRM-G1XLBSnTDhjdD_7Eem0q7ylQ2DMpPj32MFGi4h4/s640/red+glass+candle+tree++%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="636" /></a><br />
The tiny table had room for just one chunky candle wrapped in a piece of birch bark I found in my yard this fall. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRiKkDO6hJPfOxUr-L34tYbaECQg1DhcGP6JvGUP8ZCPory2VtQoxOlm2MLMqu5fhOE4V8esxbQU-hxiUDWTfXGBwxkff0YUKD-uMkwzs-kuu7BJ7Qqq8IjKzniBS4S9SSlz1AZVd8rjU/s1600/dinner+for+2+christmas+tablescapex+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRiKkDO6hJPfOxUr-L34tYbaECQg1DhcGP6JvGUP8ZCPory2VtQoxOlm2MLMqu5fhOE4V8esxbQU-hxiUDWTfXGBwxkff0YUKD-uMkwzs-kuu7BJ7Qqq8IjKzniBS4S9SSlz1AZVd8rjU/s640/dinner+for+2+christmas+tablescapex+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="626" /></a></div>Here is a flash shot of the green and red plates I used.<br />

I also used three different textured green balls, real lollipops, and a few different candy-themed ornies.<br />
<br />
Now I need to come up with a tablescape to coordinate with the tree.<br />
<br />
Stay tuned to see what that will be!Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978112672451468064.post-78097426275487233422010-11-23T17:06:00.000-05:002010-11-23T17:06:43.269-05:00Thanksgiving TablescapeLast week I made this 'Give Thanks' banner. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOJB_nZWZLFxU3RuoDrCI-M4zy2jU_w6EdWSM26aZgZRDy2An8K4c7djBxllemwtZVjXsgnH-7GFkTYPo_tKqcJU2JqAIbOoB98ZrFRlsCEJARgRI8XM8na8JROdy4Wfd8S_xaG7ENMpk/s1600/100_6757+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOJB_nZWZLFxU3RuoDrCI-M4zy2jU_w6EdWSM26aZgZRDy2An8K4c7djBxllemwtZVjXsgnH-7GFkTYPo_tKqcJU2JqAIbOoB98ZrFRlsCEJARgRI8XM8na8JROdy4Wfd8S_xaG7ENMpk/s640/100_6757+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="452" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I added a lot of pine cones and grapes to my fall leaf garland. I even put some on the opening knob of the cabinet.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSv6p7kBY7o5uxCvrFC6k1n7eeoBZjR02kF8iiBUWW_5uWH7P1tubT7228I_ZbWddzoBItQ5UPuM5NtR0UDGPyg_WbPks5NMW3qjsT4zIkorGZWLJ826p960LKDUpuXKydHn9SCcH-IRw/s1600/100_6740+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSv6p7kBY7o5uxCvrFC6k1n7eeoBZjR02kF8iiBUWW_5uWH7P1tubT7228I_ZbWddzoBItQ5UPuM5NtR0UDGPyg_WbPks5NMW3qjsT4zIkorGZWLJ826p960LKDUpuXKydHn9SCcH-IRw/s400/100_6740+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>Tonight I set my Thanksgiving table to coordinate with this cabinet.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I used my turkey soup tureen as the centerpiece.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjhquG8k9QrLAVgc3AtP4gM2-r4NjPJCcNu28AhWoliSIPf6UnMzAFpXLPgPYuNTKhcTZ91MKoYhPBoTWOQJVasIHQ3LJRFLTXcYD8uyEjI-j2VdU1UyrmMEPdiVZozhk-eOGiXvWq3-E/s1600/100_6734+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjhquG8k9QrLAVgc3AtP4gM2-r4NjPJCcNu28AhWoliSIPf6UnMzAFpXLPgPYuNTKhcTZ91MKoYhPBoTWOQJVasIHQ3LJRFLTXcYD8uyEjI-j2VdU1UyrmMEPdiVZozhk-eOGiXvWq3-E/s400/100_6734+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="246" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>This tall metal candle holder was also adorned with grapes and fall leaf garland.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix3QV-d4AgXDjH7l3FNuA-UxqOL5wLFUzt7ZtAQ-jdDJbYPFAKkZEWRSHirqfc1_xEZHeMOfbDMspxKgQaC6DAq6IZZwk9rOXQKJ4UmKHxgFPxf5-AJ3Y2OvHf4BDreYMoIki6YqBGh5I/s1600/100_6742+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix3QV-d4AgXDjH7l3FNuA-UxqOL5wLFUzt7ZtAQ-jdDJbYPFAKkZEWRSHirqfc1_xEZHeMOfbDMspxKgQaC6DAq6IZZwk9rOXQKJ4UmKHxgFPxf5-AJ3Y2OvHf4BDreYMoIki6YqBGh5I/s400/100_6742+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="283" /></a></div><br />
I used my favorite vintage dishes -- 'Windsor Fruit'. These dishes just say "Thanksgiving" to me. You may have noticed that I also used them in my header, which is a Thanksgiving table from a couple of years ago.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjne1X1YesKY-GP_HfB8BFPmM_xiOZ872_O5nr6oSx-ft-4Ci9aJKbjpo5mWQ6nSw4_eFS_-RQPPE7Oyfq93xvnwbzDRN5TR7qyrOPd1ytUSRtTqeFsaTarBAYt8JSepMznt-mJU-wGJ7M/s1600/100_6768+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjne1X1YesKY-GP_HfB8BFPmM_xiOZ872_O5nr6oSx-ft-4Ci9aJKbjpo5mWQ6nSw4_eFS_-RQPPE7Oyfq93xvnwbzDRN5TR7qyrOPd1ytUSRtTqeFsaTarBAYt8JSepMznt-mJU-wGJ7M/s400/100_6768+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>The gold beaded chargers provide some sparkle. I love sparkle! <br />
<br />
These green/gold candles seemed to work with this table.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE1yxTiAe7m8jdXh5tCBmbdaBHsaXizckcMP-KbTYR5fyFY3xHIp5QPAB5bCyUd8dqQG3fWYfXrP-jhSLCL7vBw_oPqBlqOkXKjIGrPl2l-NTkLSqUlzkFd-rsbkk6oWR-ne9catuDeGE/s1600/100_6746+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="287" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE1yxTiAe7m8jdXh5tCBmbdaBHsaXizckcMP-KbTYR5fyFY3xHIp5QPAB5bCyUd8dqQG3fWYfXrP-jhSLCL7vBw_oPqBlqOkXKjIGrPl2l-NTkLSqUlzkFd-rsbkk6oWR-ne9catuDeGE/s400/100_6746+%2528Medium%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div> So now my table is all set for the big feast! <br />
