A Bold Fabric Purchase Inspires a New Tablescape

I have been stalking the Joanne's Red Tag Fabric aisles again and picked up a few yards of this bold 60's inspired fabric. Before I cut it up to use in a quilt,I tossed it across the dining table to see what sort of table it would inspire.

After auditioning at least six different plates, I settled on a red charger, a milk glass dinner plate and a red salad plate with a pink napkin in a double ring of red and white.
I tied in all of the colors (pink, purple, red) with the glassware. I brought in the purple color with the water glass and used red wine glasses that have a similar floral pattern as the tablecloth. The little pink dish is for dessert.

Do you know what these are?

Here is one at a place setting.

They are salt cellars which were very popular during the Victorian era. They are fun to use now and then. Everybody likes to have their own supply of salt. I like to fill them with Kosher salt.

The centerpiece is just a bunch of candles--tapers and votives. Some are shaped like roses and some like hearts.

Just for fun I have some chocolates in a heart-shaped plate at each end of the table. They seemed appropriate since this is a romantic, sort of early Valentine's Day table.

Here is the view just prior to sitting down to dinner.

Doing this table made me realize that I need some light purple plates. I have purple soup bowls, but they never seem to quite work when I need to pull in some purple. I will have to keep my eyes peeled for some at a good discounted price.

The tables are beautiful. Great job. I love to see all the interest in the tables. As an interior designer, tables get forgotten sometimes. These are beautiful.
