Royal China Winter Scene Tablescape

After work tonight I decided to do a quickie table to celebrate winter. With about 5 feet of snow on the ground, I may as well embrace the season because it will be a long time until spring.

The dinner plate has this charming country winter scene. I would guess these plates are from the 1950's, but I am not sure. Royal made a lot of patterns. I could not find much information on this one. Even replacements.com did not have this pattern.
The salad plates are slightly different depicting children ice skating on a pond.
A lovely as these are, I rarely use them. You know why? I think that food is much less appealing when it is served on a patterned plate. I like a nice pattern on the rim, but I prefer the middle to be a solid color.
On with the table....I used these glasses because I think they sort of look like snow (even though they are really flowers). If you don't look too closely, they remind me of snowflakes.

I also thought the white swirls of the tablecloth looked similar to blowing snow and there is a little bit of blue color in the plate scene.

A bunch of solid white candles with a twig wreath around the middle one worked just fine for a simple center.

I used dark metal chargers with this table and brown napkins which I just stuck in the glass.

It was pretty quick and easy. I will keep it until Sunday and then switch to something totally different for Tablescape Tuesday.

I love the table setting! The winter theme is adorable. I have avoided buying different style of plates because I knew I'd end up with too many, but looking at your site just makes me jealous! lol Great work. :)
Love the table...

Interesting... I didn't know about this Tablescaping until now. Haha.

Why tablescaping? And where do you get all the stuff? You must have a whole storeroom full of material and tableware.

I mean I've seen decorating madness before, doll houses, barbies, all the things housewives like to play with but I've never bumped into this before. :-)

Wow! I never thought of table setting as an art, but your settings are really stunning. I wish I could set things the way you set them, but my setting is ususally setless. I have no chargers or pretty plates. If I send you pictures of my table, can you tell me what to do? I have about 74 pictures of my table from different angles that can help you to tell me what to do with my table setting.

Congrats on Blog of Note. I love your tablesettings, but where do you store all this stuff? Do you have a separate room with shelves or a big garage? I barely have room in my kitchen cabinets for my everyday dishes, but I would love to have several sets of dishes, glasses, tables cloths, etc. Please share your secret with us?
Alicia
Love your blog! Glad I found it! I worked in the hospitality industry and enjoy setting a visually appealing table using eclectic pieces. I think I need to start a tablescaping blog - I find such beautiful things at the thrift stores and I live alone! If I start a blog, at least others can enjoy my finds!

Many years ago, while was an art student, a tutor taking a crit observed of one students work..'My god at last someone who cares about what they do and knows that details matter...
This is true now of so many blogs but never has the impact of its truth been so evidenced as in 'Tablescapes'
I'm so glad I took the time to link through Blogs of Note...congratulations

You always amaze me with your clever and lovely tablescapes. Where do you keep all your plates and glasses? Are they in any order so you can be in a blue mood and know just where to reach for them?
I am starting just to buy two new dinner plates at a time for variety, since it's just usually the two of us. I have 4-5 regular dishes and a few sets of good dishes. Thanks for the inspiration.

I like this setting. Most of all i like glass with white swirls and lots of candles.
What fun to find your blog through Blogs of Note. I really appreciate that they spread their favors around. I love to use special dishes and create a mood. If I had the room I would have 100s of dishes to fit my mood. I'm very jealous. You are doing what I have only dreamed of. And like many others I wonder...where to you store all these pretties.

Oh so beautiful. I would love to be able to prepare a beautiful dining table with silver cutlery and gorgeous dinnerware...... but it takes me all my time to cook the meal! lol

Your photographs are gorgeous. I will come here for inspiration and if I'm not able to manage anything creative, at least I can look at your pictures. :)
What a great blog! A nice break from news. I will add this to my regularly checked blogs.

I really like the idea of TableScaping. Unfortunately, I live in a semi truck full time and don't get to be a homemaker these days! Oh well.

It's quite nice but I'm quite that why the pictures you showed us is royal Chinese plate. I don't think so. You know what, Chinese plate is quite classical and full of Chinese factory.Blue and White Porcelain , for example. In my opinion, the plate may belongs to the style of Royal European. Don't you think so?

You should change the name of this blog to really stupid pictures on a really stupid medium.
These plats remind me of my mother-in-law's plates ... hers have a similar winter scene on them, and she also could not find replacements. Unfortunately, she had to move from her house about a year ago. I'd have to ask my brother-in-law what happened to the dishes.
Love those adorable winter scene plates! Beautiful tablescape!
