Golden Wheat Vintage Tablescape

Quite a few years ago, when I was in my prime dish collecting stage of life, my sweet husband stopped at a garage sale and bought me a box of dishes. He was so excited when he brought them home to me.

Many of you will remember these Golden wheat plates from the 1950's.
This particular set has a gold band around the edge and this set is in almost perfect condition.

The gold band is not even worn. As you can see by the above photo, there are no wear marks on the backside of the plates. I don't even think this set was used. My DH made a great buy!
I decided that these plates needed a dark rimmed charger and changed to my brown metal set.

These plates just say "autumn" to me, so I used some gourds,fall-colored candles and a scarecrow for the centerpiece.

Dh loves when I use this set. He is so proud that he found them for me.

You just have to love a man who gets excited finding a set of dishes for his wife!

Oh the dishes are just gorgeous. I just love them. What a wonderful gift and yes I would say he is a real keeper. I love the tablescape. You always do the most beautiful centerpieces, and this one is stunning too. Beautiful table. Hugs, Marty

They ARE pretty! I've always admired that pattern when I've seen them on other blogs. Your DH is a sweetie for bringing them home! They also look great w/ the dark chargers!

Very pretty! Good find by the hubs. The craft stores sell bunches of wheat too-that would look pretty. I am almost certain mom had a few of these floating around her kitchen over the years.

My mom had those Golden Wheat Dishes and I could swear they came in laundry detergent boxes.

I know some type of dish did, just can't remember which ones. Do you know?
I would say that man is a keeper!

I have three of those bread plates, but they have tiny gold swords or something all the way around them. Says "Golden Wheat, Made in USA, 22K Gold, Oven Proof" on the back. Same wheat stalks and everything.

Your table is gorgeous!
