Aqua and Black Tablescape

I bought this necklace last week. On Wednesday I wore it to work. On Saturday it adorned my dining room table. Now that's what you call versatile! Once again a piece of wild fabric inspired the setting.


As soon as I saw this fabric (in the red tag aisle), I knew I wanted it to go with my aqua-rimmed 1950's Pyrex dishes.
A dark charger and a black octagon salad plate anchored the setting. The napkin brought in the gold color from the inspiration fabric.
I still needed something to pick up that cranberry red in the fabric. I couldn't find a napkin or a set of glasses in quite the right shade, but I did find a set of cloth placemats that worked beautifully in an unconventional way. I put one over the top of each chair cover.
Then I pulled out my Capri Dot drinking glasses that are from the same era as the Pyrex plates. The color was perfect. I added a black stemmed eight-sided champagne glass because I needed a touch more black and they matched the salad plates.


The gold flatware was used because of the gold napkin. Do you see where I used the necklace?
Right around the base of this tall lamp. I tossed a few "ice cubes" for sparkle to highlight that area.
I had a hard time finding a centerpiece for this table. I didn't have anything large that was aqua. I pulled this black-shaded lamp from a table in the family room and it worked quite nicely--just a tad too tall. The problem was what to do with the cord. I wrapped it around the base, then gathered a piece of black fabric and made a little skirt to hide the cord.
The necklace just dressed up the black skirt and had the same brushed metal look as the lamp base.
I used a tiny blue heart with one chocolate on the right side of each setting.

This is the mirror on the wall that reflected the candlelight (and the picture on the opposite wall).
